It is the direction in which the price of an asset is moving.  There are usually two main kinds of trends: bear and bull market. When there is a sustained upward movement in the price of an asset, it is a bull market. If there is a prolonged downtrend in the price of an asset, it is a bear market. One must note that a prolonged bull market may occasionally witness a fall in the prices too.
